A new Charion?

I had some spare time yesterday so I decided I was going to make a bag for myself. Yes, I know I make bags for a living so I should have tons but I don't. My needs were specific; I needed a simple bag which is very big and has lots of pockets. I don't like too much bling bling on my bag and I like a simple design. I needed a bag for my daily trips to the market so I can put in pieces of fabric, interface, food and whatever else I happen to buy. I also knew I wanted a square like bag as opposed to a long bag like the truffle. So I got to work.

I had some dark brown canvas which I wanted to use and I found most appropriate since my new coat will be red (I still haven't found the ONE). I wanted it to have two pockets on the front to put stuff in like receipts or keys which I don't need to open the bag to put it. A harness key for my keys because I'm notorious for taking forever to find my keys (aren't all women?). A zippered closure of course to keep my valuables inside the bag. Two long straps to fit over a coat and plenty of pockets inside; a zippered pocket and two extra pockets and a pen slip. So here it is:

A very simple design but this bag is so incredibly functional. With a 44 cm (17") opening I can not only fit my laptop but also my laptop sleeve AND a book or two. The bag has an 8 cm (3 inch) depth so it will fit lots and lots of magazines, books and well, fabric. The front pockets measure 20 cm x 17 cm ( 7.8" x 6.6") so they can fit a medium size magazine like a small Cosmo. This bag will work wonders not only everyday, but will also work great for traveling. I'm considering adding one or two to the shop. I have some extra lilac and charcoal in that fabulous cotton linen blend canvas. I might add them next week after the move.
