The past few weeks I've been back home in Greece. My hometown Preveza is a beautiful city located in the West coast of Greece and is much like an island because it's surrounded by sea. See below the satellite image from google maps:

It was really nice to see my family again and spend some valuable time doing nothing. Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed that :) The only thing I didn't enjoy very much was the heat. It was at least 35 degrees there, and when it's that hot, just blinking makes you sweat. There is no point in showering because as soon as you're out of the shower, you're sweaty again. I actually missed the miserable weather of Amsterdam. Which by the way, is really miserable at the moment. As soon as I got off the plane, it felt like I was entering a different season. From Summer, at three hour flight straight into Fall.
While in Greece I got to think about morelle and about my plans for the Fall/Winter collection. I realized that the past couple of weeks I was working way too much trying to catch up with orders and ultimately, I stopped enjoying what I was doing. I love creating and making things, but when you have twenty bags to make with a deadline in a few days then it takes all the fun out of it. All of a sudden it's about how fast you can cut fabric, iron it, pin it and sew it. And if you mess up, all over again. I had to work nights and weekends to catch up with orders, to get them all out within 5 working days, because I don't want people to wait a month for a bag. Doing morelle full-time was one of the best things that's ever happened to me. Like imagining the perfect job for you, and then getting it. So I decided to make some changes.
I've decided (again) to only sell things in stock. The good news is, delivery time will decrease considerably. The bad news, items will be added to the shop sparsely so if your favourite bag just got bought, it might take a few days before it is added to the shop again. This will give me the opportunity to experiment more with the designs and make more one-of-a-kind items. I realize this will mean spending more time taking photos and writing descriptions, but this is the fun part about my job, not sewing. I really do not "love" sewing.
So the shop will be more exciting this way. A varied collection but of course the same theme; simple, soft, chic designs. The new items will be out in about a weeks time. I am attending my first craft fair next Saturday in Rotterdam so I have to create a stock for that. Whatever stock is left from the fair will be added to the shop next Sunday. So once again, here is a sneak preview of my Fall/Winter collection:
The new Charlotte will be bigger and will also come in corduroy. All the new bags will have zippered pockets inside:

I will have a very limited amount of these woolly scarves as it takes me about a week to knit each one. Made with organic dyed shetland yarn, they are about two meters long and nothing short of soft woolly luxury for winter.

The new Truffle is bigger in width and height, it's made with ruffles instead of pleats, zippered and also includes an internal zippered pocket. See here with the new canvas which is 55% cotton and 45% linen in Charcoal gray.

If you're in the Netherlands you can see my new collection first hand in Rotterdam. See here for more info: rotterdamcraft.com. Otherwise, items will be added on my Etsy shop as of August 31st.
Hope you all enjoy the rest of the Summer :)

The new big Truffle may be inching out the Charlotte on my wishlist ... I so wish my parents still lived in Rotterdam (they did from 1998 to 2000) -- I would totally send my mom to the craft fair to see the bags IRL :)
