They don't make 'em like they used to

I love vintage stuff. I get this feeling from them... "I existed in another era". One that I can only imagine now how it could have been. Sometimes when I look at some vintage item I wonder if a secretary wore it back then, or some old fashioned housewife. It's an item with a story behind it. This fascination with vintage is not shared by my boyfriend. He says it's "Old crap".

Anyway, yesterday I was bored and wanted to buy something. So I thought I should buy a bag. Not a handmade one of course, I make those! But a vintage leather bag.

In my quest I found some really cool patchwork bags. You don't really see those around anymore and I think they are oh so bohemian. I think my grandmother used to have one. Anyway, I didn't actually buy one for personal use because I couldn't find "the one", but I did have some favourites.

I would have picked up this indie patchwork duffel on the spot had it not been reserved. Why are the good ones always taken? :( Amazing bag from erstwhilevintage

She also had another one which I seriously considered and later ended up buying. But not to wear. I don't like purses with those types of handles, I need a nice big strap to do all the holding for me. So I bought it to make it into a frame. That's right. I'm going to make some weird bag art collection for my wall. You think it's weird now but when I'm finished with it you'll wonder why you didn't think of it first! And then I'll be a real bag lady.
